Ginger is an herb that deserves classification both for culinary uses and for medicinal – it is my favorite of late!! The pungent spice mixes so well with honey or maple syrup or even stevia, yet, in addition to being delicious, I am amazed at the value to the body ginger has! I am in the final course for my degree in Nutrition and we are required to create a monograph of quality to be presented to the American Herbal Products Association in the hopes of adding ginger back into America’s Pharmacopoeia. (It’s a long story, but back when drugs were recognized as the most valuable help to medicine around the 1920s, herbs were removed from the Pharmacopoeia and one-by-one through much effort from the AHPA are being added back!)
